Oventsia

Oventsia is an invented world presented as an installation where differences of visual scale and smells produce a sense of perplexity and displacement.

Influenced by Roman Vishniac’s microscopical photography, Benjamin Hardman’s photographs of Iceland and Stas Bartnikas’ aerial photography, Liivaleht’s images use both microscopic and macroscopic techniques to suggest how forms break down and merge at extremes of focus and to suggest undiscovered, otherworldly landscapes.

The form of the installation was suggested by the correspondence between our immersion in art and our desire to lose ourselves in imaginary worlds. Oventsia started as a world that Liivaleht created for herself. This installation is the culmination of her project to finally share it with the rest of us.
